These nice sized Orthoceras are great for any occasion as a gift or just to add a new item to your collection. The tops and sides have been nicely cut and polished to bring the unique details of the Orthoceras to view, while the bottoms are a rough cut, allowing for an interesting take on how a fossil may look in different settings.
Orthoceras are a cephalopod that thrived during the Devonian period. That is roughly 350 million years ago! Until this particular group became extinct approximately 190 million years ago, during the last mass extinction of the dinosaurs. During the Devonian area, now day Morocco, was a shallow sea where these straight siphuncle shelled creatures thrived.
